What can I expect during the implant procedure?
Before the procedure, you will have an initial examination by one of our periodontists who will take a CT scan to view the current state of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. When the procedure begins, a local anesthetic is usually administered to the surgical area, however, patients will also have the option to opt for conscious sedation depending on comfort level.
During the procedure, implants are placed strategically at a specific angle, which lends more support to the teeth and avoids the sinus cavities and alveolar nerve. Using this method, not only can the teeth be secured in one day, but the procedure eliminates the need for painful bone grafting, which drastically reduces healing time.
After the implants are in place, the periodontist will take an impression or dental scan of your mouth in order to fabricate your new teeth. In as little as two hours after the start of the procedure, you can walk out with a brand-new smile!
